The Swedish Quantum Life Science Centre (QLS Centre) held its kick-off event on the 15th and 16th of March at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm. The event was attended by about 20 participants from across Sweden, consisting of researchers and experts in quantum technologies and life sciences.
A warm welcome to the kick-off event
The event was opened with a warm welcome by Professor Anna Martling, Dean at Karolinska Institutet and Senior Consultant at Karolinska University Hospital.
Ann-Marie Wennberg, Professor at the University of Gothenburg and Hospital Director at Sahlgrenska University Hospital, then introduced the QLS Centre and its mission.
During the event, there were several presentations on quantum life science topics including quantum computing for protein folding, quantum chemistry for drug discovery, modelling molecules on quantum devices and quantum microscopy and spectroscopy. These presentations were given by experts in their respective fields, and they provided insights into the various ways in which quantum technology can be used to predict, prevent, diagnose and treat diseases.
Introduction of the Steering Committee
The QLS Centre Steering Committee was also introduced during the event. This committee comprises a team of distinguished researchers: Anna Martling, Ann-Marie Wennberg Larkö, Daniel Lundqvist, Göran Johansson, and Magnus Boman. These experts will provide strategic guidance and leadership for the QLS Centre as it continues to develop and expand.
Overall, the kick-off event for the QLS Centre was a great success, bringing together experts from across Sweden to discuss and collaborate on the exciting field of quantum life science. With its talented team of researchers and leaders, the QLS Centre is well-positioned to make significant contributions to the field in the future.
